Cape Town comedian Alan Committie goes back to school with his brand-new show, Class(y) Clown, directed by Chris Weare. He has gone back to the classroom, to teach himself (and audiences along the way), a few lessons.
The verbally dexterous Committie has been described as having “a flair for thinking on his feet” and “turning something quite ordinary into a hysterical situation”. Class(y) Clowns promises to be no exception to this rule. “Verbal hi-jinx and madcap physicality make this comedian a must see,” is how Business Day described him.
Class(y) Clown is an exploration of what we have learnt, what we still need to understand and how we can keep sane in this age of bewilderment.
Using his experience as a former school teacher, Committie will be re-educating audiences about the hilarious and precariously fragile state of the world. He covers subjects like science, history, geography, physical education, sex education and even home economics. The curriculum includes fluctuating from flossing to fiscal fragility and bouncing between ball-sports and by-elections as everything is covered in this hilarious new comedy show.
“There will be lots of textbook laughs but, be warned,” says Committie, “miss this show and you’ll be sent off to detention straight away.”
